Sunday, August 3rd was the Janice Sue Celebration with many activities going on throughout the day. One of them was the Porthole Palooza which was a fun competitive event for everyone playing and watching. During the event we had cake and listened to some fantastic music by Blind Dog Hank.

A familiar sight in Fishtown, ducks often travel along the upper sections of the Leland River. Early in the season, a few mother ducks shock onlookers by training their ducklings to “shoot the rapids” over the dam.

In honor of these brave young ducks, FPS hosted a “Ducks over the Dam Race.” We launched the ducks in Fishtown during Janice Sue's Birthday Celebration on August 8th.

Duck #55 was the winner of this snail-paced race. Congratulations to Miah McCallister! -- you can see Miah pictured with her duck trophy on the August 4th's Leland Report.
